THE ICF PHILOSOPHY OF COACHING

I am affiliated to the International Coach Federation which adheres to a form of coaching that honours the client as the expert in his/her life and work, and believes that every client is creative, resourceful and whole. They do not need to be "fixed".

Standing on this foundation, the coach's responsibility is to:

Discover, clarify, and align with what the client wants to achieve;
Encourage client self-discovery;
Elicit client-generated solutions and strategies; and
Hold the client responsible and accountable.


THE ICF DEFINITION OF COACHING

Professional Coaching is an ongoing professional relationship that helps people produce extraordinary results in their lives, careers, businesses or organisations. Through the process of coaching, clients deepen their learning, improve their performance, and enhance their quality of life.

In each meeting, the client chooses the focus of conversation, while the coach listens and contributes observations and questions. This interaction creates clarity and moves the client into action. Coaching accelerates the client's progress by providing greater focus and awareness of choice. Coaching concentrates on where clients are now and what they are willing to do to get where they want to be in the future, recognizing that results are a matter of the client’s intentions, choices and actions, supported by the coach’s efforts and application of the coaching process.

THE ICF PLEDGE OF ETHICS

As a professional coach, I acknowledge and agree to honour my ethical obligations to my coaching clients and colleagues and to the public at large. I pledge to comply with ICF Standards of Ethical Conduct, to treat people with dignity as independent and equal human beings, and to model these standards with those whom I coach. If I breach this Pledge of Ethics or any ICF Standards of Ethical Conduct, I agree that the ICF in its sole discretion may hold me accountable for so doing. I further agree that my accountability to the ICF for any breach may include loss of my ICF membership or my ICF credentialising

THE ICF STANDARDS OF ETHICAL CONDUCT

1. I will conduct myself in a manner that reflects well on coaching as a profession and I will refrain from doing anything that harms the public's understanding or acceptance of coaching as a profession.
2. I will accurately identify my level of coaching competence and I will not overstate my qualifications, expertise or experience as a coach.
3. I will ensure that my coaching client understands the nature of coaching and the terms of the coaching agreement between us.
4. I will not intentionally mislead or make false claims about what my client will receive from the coaching process or from me as their coach.
5. I will respect the confidentiality of my client's information, except as otherwise authorized by my client, or as required by law.
6. I will obtain informed permission from each of my clients before releasing their names as clients or references or any other client identifying information.
7. I will be alert to noticing when my client is no longer benefiting from our coaching relationship and would be better served by another coach or by another resource and, at that time, I will encourage my client to make that change.
8. I will seek to avoid conflicts between my interests and the interests of my clients.
9. Whenever any actual conflict of interest or the potential for a conflict of interest arises, I will openly disclose it and fully discuss with my client how to deal with it in whatever way best serves my client.
10. I will disclose to my client all anticipated compensation from third parties that I may receive for referrals or advice concerning that client.
11. I will honour agreements I make in my coaching relationships, and construct clear agreements that may include confidentiality, progress reports, and other particulars. I will obtain the express consent of the person being coached before releasing information to another person compensating me.
12. I will not give my clients or any prospective clients information or advice I know to be misleading or beyond my competence.
13. I will respect and honour the efforts and contributions of others.
14. I will respect the creative and written work of others in developing my own materials.
15. I will use ICF member contact information (email addresses, telephone numbers, etc.) only in the manner and to the extent authorized by the ICF.

Executive Coaching Service

The first session is free of charge. We need to get to know each other to see if we can work well together. It will focus on the challenges you are facing and how you could move towards addressing them by setting achievable goals. All conversations are confidential, tailored to your individual needs, designed for action learning, monitoring progress and evaluating what is working or needs more work. You are then able to identify and celebrate yur success.

After an initial three month agreement I invoice monthly in advance. Below is a guide to the types of services I currently offer and an idea of the fees charged. They will inevitably vary depending on local circumstances. Corporate clients should contact me to discuss their specific requirements as I have associates and a network of professional coaches and trainers that I can draw on.

x GOLD SERVICE - (£600 - £800 a month)

Two face-to-face sessions a month , for six months, supported by unlimited telephone and email support as required. This approach will suit clients who are serious about achieving important goals in a short period of time. The fee includes a comprehensive personal assessment and NLP sessions to address any mind, mood or body state issues. This service is popular with business executives and senior managers who need to achieve specific goals quickly or make personal changes to advance their careers.

x SILVER SERVICE - (£300 - £500 a month)

A one hour face-to-face session and two half-hour telephone sessions a month. This approach will suit clients who want to achieve success in a number of areas over an unpsecified period of time. After a three month minimum commitment the agreement continues on a month by month basis at a discount of £100 until terminated. This service is often requested by headteachers, service managers and team leaders who find themselves having to deliver results under intense pressure.

x BRONZE SERVICE - (£200 a month)

Two thirty minute telephone sessions per month and unlimited email support. Minimum agreement is three months. This service is popular with clients who value continuous personal and professional development. They could be aspiring managers, professionals under pressure, leaders facing the first 100 days in a new role, service heads dealing with new responsibilities, managers reviewing their careers, senior maangers preparing for 'retirement', etc.

x ASSISTANCE AT A DISTANCE- (£240 annual subscription)

For an annual subscription of £240 you are entitled to 4 hours of telephone coaching and mentoring support. You can use this time allowance for short conversations of up to 30 minutes. You will be able to access an extensive online 'information base', a 'leaders digest' of tools and techniques for tackling everyday challenges and complex issuess. You can top-up your time budget to receive additional coaching if you wish. More . . . .

x SUPERVISION SESSIONS FOR COACHES - (£20 - £50 a session)

I provide telephone supervision sessions for up to one hour for practicing coaches and mentors who want to improve their professional practice.

Facilitation Services

I have extensive experience of facilitating work groups and service teams to improve communication and secure improvements in performance. As a certified NLP Practioner and Ontological Coach I focus on topics that make managers and leaders more powerful observers and users of language, mood and body state. This enables them to get better results from themselves and others. I have been invited to facilitate many inter-agency partnership teams, senior management and frontline teams. I have experience of working with nearly every function in local governemnt.

x TRAINING WORKSHOPS (£750 - £1,250 a session)

I provide interactive learning experiences that appeal to a wide range of intelligences. I will consider training requests that enable me to bespoke the content and approach to meet your requirements, the venue, the client group and the time available. I also have a range of standard workshop formats that deal with a variety of manager and team development topics, such as 'Managing Commitments & Priorities', 'Responsibility for Results', 'Managing the Dynamics of Change', 'Managing for Wellness', 'Stakeholder Management', 'Motivation through Engagement', 'NLP for Managers', 'Coaching Skills for Change Agents', 'Partnership Working', 'Leading for Real Change', etc.

x TEAM AWAYDAYS (£750 - £1,500 for a full-day)

Team coaching sessions help teams address a wide range of issues by learning to identify and develop core team values,
to understand what a team is and the different team members' roles. It's about identifying and overcoming obstacles to team performance by learning to communicate more effectively. Together they put structures in place which will ensure continued success.

Recently, I have facilitated senior mangement teams to develop business plans and review strategy, project teams to map processes and scope key objectives, enabled service teams to produce action plans, inter-agency and partnership teams to develop shared visions.

Evaluation & Feedback

I provide feedback for all my clients on the learning journey they have travelled, from which they can assess their progress and identify new opportunities for learning and growth.

Where appropriate I request clients undertake personality tests, interest inventories, skill surveys, developmental or 360° assessments to provide a baseline and a focus for the coaching relationship. I would also want to collect personal and contextual data. This will vary depending on the coaching package chosen and the type of coaching intervention required.
